Six people displaced after fire at apartment complex
Six people are displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Central Austin. It happened at around 6:30 a.m. at the Argosy at Crestview located in the 1000 block of Justin Lane.
Crews responded and the fire was brought under control in 15 minutes officials say. Two apartments were heavily damaged with fire control damage to another. Seven other apartments suffered minor smoke damage.
One person was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation. The six people displaced are being assisted by the Central Texas Red Cross.
Officials say the damage is estimated at $200,000 to the structure and $100,000 for contents.
Investigators say they have ruled the fire's cause an accident due to improperly discarded smoking material.
