Souper Bowl of Caring donations delivered to Capital Area Food Bank

Nearly 200,000 pounds of food has been delivered to the Capital Area Food Bank. The major food delivery is part of the Souper Bowl of Caring.

For the last eight years, H-E-B, Central Market and Randall's have teamed up to sell pre-packaged bags of food. The $5 bags were sold for the past month as part of Souper Bowl of Caring, a national effort to help feed the hungry.

At H-E-B alone, 160,000 pounds of food was purchased. The items delivered included:

20 pallets of peanut butter
15 pallets of corn
15 pallets of green beans
16 pallets of brown rice
8 pallets of tuna

The other participating stores will deliver their pre-packaged bags in the next few days.
