St. Edward's University opting out of Campus Carry

St. Edward's University is joining the list of private colleges opting out of campus carry. Officials say the school will continue its long standing policy of banning weapons on campus.
Under the new Texas law that goes into effect in August, private universities may opt out.
Other schools in Texas that aren't allowing Campus Carry include Southwestern in Georgetown, Rice and SMU.
In a press release, St. Edward's University says its leadership "believes concealed handguns on campus present significant concerns and are not conducive to a positive learning environment."
St. Edward's says its position was supported by opinions expressed at campus wide information sessions that it held.
