Student arrested for bringing loaded handgun to Georgetown High School

A student at Georgetown High School was arrested for bringing a loaded handgun onto campus, police say. 

Georgetown police took 18-year-old Christian Lima into custody for having a loaded .22 caliber pistol in his pocket on campus, police say. They were alerted to the situation by another student who witnessed the handgun and reported it to the School Resource Officer. That student said he didn't hear any threats or witness any aggressive behavior from Lima.  

The school was not placed on lockdown due to officers being able to immediately locate Lima. Police are trying to determine why the student had the handgun in his possession. 

Lima was transported to the Williamson County Jail and charged with places weapons prohibited, which is a second degree felony.
