Texas DPS strike teams to help arrest, locate criminals in US illegally
AUSTIN - Strike teams from the Texas Department of Public Safety will help federal agents locate and arrest criminals who are in the United States illegally.
Gov. Greg Abbott directs Texas DPS to assist Trump Administration
What we know:
Texas Governor Greg Abbott directed Texas DPS to offer tactical strike teams in support of the Trump Administration's newly formed Homeland Security Task Force.
The goal of the group will be to locate, arrest and deport nearly 5,400 undocumented immigrants with active warrants in Texas, according to the governor's office.

The strike teams will include DPS troopers, Special Agents and Texas Rangers.
What we don't know:
At this time, it is not clear how many troopers, agents and Texas Rangers will be a part of the strike teams.
It was also not announced where the members will come from.

What they're saying:
"Texas is expanding our operations to assist President Donald Trump to protect Americans and enforce the rule of law," said Governor Abbott in a statement. "After four years of failed policies, Texas finally has a partner in President Trump. Together, we will end this crisis and make America safe once again."
