Texas football player charged with assault with injury

University of Texas at Austin football player Demarco Boyd has been charged with assault with injury, according to the Austin Police Department. 

Boyd played as a linebacker in four games as a sophomore in 2017. Head football coach Tom Herman says Boyd has been suspended from all team activities. 

“We are aware of the situation with Demarco Boyd and have suspended him from all team activities at this time," Herman said. "We will continue to monitor the legal process and pending its completion, determine any further action.”

APD says the charge is related to a July 4 incident and is a Class A misdemeanor.
