Texas Planned Parenthood chapter joins lawsuit over videos
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A Texas Planned Parenthood chapter has joined a previously filed federal lawsuit, alleging criminal misconduct by anti-abortion activists who made undercover videos accusing the organization of illegally selling fetal tissue.
Houston-based Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast announced Thursday that it would become part of a civil suit filed in January in San Francisco by Planned Parenthood's national arm.
At issue is the Center for Medical Progress, which last summer began releasing secret videos, one of which allegedly came from a Houston clinic.
Planned Parenthood has denied wrongdoing and accused the Center for Medical Progress of a host of crimes, including illegal secret recording and trespassing.
The center's founder and another activist were indicted in January by a Harris County grand jury, which also found that Planned Parenthood had committed no wrongdoing.
