Texas State warns of scam financial aid email

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State University Financial Aid & Scholarships office is warning students about a scam email sent to several students.

The email, addressed to Dear Bobcat, says the student has been chosen "among five individuals" to receive a "free financial aid worth $15,000" and asks the student to click a link and confirm their information to receive a direct deposit.

The office says the email is a scam and for students to not reply or click any links.

Students who receive this email are instructed to forward all possible scam emails as an attachment to abuse@txstate.edu.
