Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving morning a quarter century old tradition trotted its way through downtown Austin. The annual Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot started bright and early.

20,000 people showed up at the Long Center with smiles, and some wearing costumes, ready to run for a good cause.

The started arriving at around 7 a.m. to register. The trots began at 9:30 a.m. for the five mile run or walk and 15 minutes later the one mile run or walk began.

The race has helped raise money for Caritas of Austin, which helps the homeless population in our community. In the past 25 years, they've raised $2.5 million.

Once the racing was done most people told FOX 7 that the perfect way to spend the rest of the day was to relax, go home and feast on a good meal.
