Two killed in South Austin fire identified

The Austin Fire Department has identified the two victims killed in the early morning fire at an apartment complex off of the Barton Creek Greenbelt. 

26-year-old Kaitlyn Denson and 30-year-old Joseph Tarin were killed in the deadly fire on Mondaym, July 15. According to the Austin Fire Department, it started at the Woods Apartments off Barton Skyway. A section of the complex collapsed as the flames rose.

Video was recorded by a resident who only wanted to be identified as "Giles," who said his pets alerted him to the danger. "I actually got woken up by my cats, I woke up to fed them and I looked up the window saw something that was kind a building, on this building here, took me a couple seconds to realize what it was and I started to smell it," said Giles.

Nine people have been displaced by this fire. 

A preliminary review has put the damage estimate at $750,000.
