University of Texas researchers working on ‘supermouse' project

A group of researchers at the University of Texas are looking to give alcohol to a mouse. It may sound bizarre but the project could have huge ramifications in treating alcoholism.

The scientists and students are hoping to learn more about the disease and create a drug that would prevent withdrawals.

The team, led by Dr. Jon Pierce-Shimomura, is raising funds to develop a mutant mouse that will help unlock the processes that are key in the development of effective addiction treatments.
