UTPD: Homeless man threatens UT student, takes debit card

A homeless man threatened a University of Texas at Austin student, demanding money, Saturday afternoon.

The University of Texas Police Department reported a notification from the Austin Police Department of a robbery by threat.

According to APD, a UT student reported that a homeless man approached her in the 300 block of West 21st Street around 2:20 p.m., demanding money and threatening her with violence if she didn't give it to him.

The victim said she gave the suspect her debit card and then ran home to call police. 

UTPD says the suspect has been located and Austin police robbery detectives are investigating. 

The Austin Police Department said as of 7:27 p.m., no arrests have been made.
