Wawa recalls milk and lemonade beverages due to possible foreign object contamination

Wawa issued a recall for several of its drinks over possible foreign object contamination. 

The Pennsylvania-based organization voluntarily recalled its strawberry lemonade, strawberry milk, lowfat milk and whole milk, which were sold at Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, according to a Food and Drug Administration report.

Wawa’s voluntary recall was issued on Sept. 23 for the beverages listed below:

  • Wawa Strawberry Lemonade in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Nov. 7. The Universal Product Code is 007626191018982. A total of 2,750 units were distributed.
  • Wawa Lowfat Strawberry Milk in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Oct. 6. The UPC is 00726191015134. A total of 30 units were distributed.
  • Wawa Whole Milk in 16-ounce plastic bottles. The code date is Oct. 9. The UPC is 00726191014403. A total of 154 units were distributed.

Approximately 2,934 beverage units were recalled in what the Food and Drug Administration FDA classifies as a Class II recall, meaning that a product can cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences. The chances of severe consequences are unlikely, but not impossible.

The product codes may vary on the bottles, but consumers who have a bottle that matches the recalled product, size and date should not drink it and throw it away.
