WILCO DA sentenced to 18 months probation

The State Bar of Texas has placed Williams County District Attorney Jana Duty on probation for 18 months. She will still be able to practice law but will have to comply with the terms of her probation.

The probation is for professional misconduct in connection to the Crispin Harmel case. A district judge ruled Duty had withheld evidence in the case that ended in a mistrial. The judge also ruled Harmel could be tried again and his ruling was upheld by the Third Court of Appeals.

Duty's probation started June 1st and ends November 30, 2017.
