WILCO Deputy arrested for assaulting girlfriend; used academy technique in fight

A Williamson County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested and charged with Assault after he got into a fight with his girlfriend. Police said he used a technique he learned in the academy to impede his girlfriend's breathing.

According to police, Mario Johnson, 27, and his girlfriend got into a fight in his home late Sunday night. During the course of the fight, the victim, who previoulsy cleaned some dog poop off of her foot, got some on Johnson. Johnson then slapped the victim and forced her to the floor.

The victim told police Johnson forced his knee on her chest and began to push down for a couple of minutes. When she began showing signs of choking, he let up.

The victim told police that Johnson would often use defensive moves that he learned in the academy on her to control her. 

Police said Johnson has been placed on paid administrative leave until all investigations have been completed.

Johnson was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail, his bond is set at $10,000.
