WILCO deputy finds six-year-old, returned home safely
A six-year-old boy is now safe after a Williamson County Sheriff's Office deputy found the unattended child walking in the grass along FM 1660 and returned him home.
The deputy was traveling southbound in the 5300 block of FM 1660 when he noticed the boy. According to WILCO, this happened at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
The deputy immediately stopped his vehicle and made contact with the six-year-old.
The child, who was fully clothed and carrying a backpack, told the deputy that he was walking to school and that his parents were unaware that he had left the house.
He was unable to communicate with the deputy where he lived. However, the deputy was able to find the child's address and retun him safely to his legal guardians.
WILCO Sheriff Chody commended the deputy for his quick thinking and resourcefulness.
"The deputy's interaction with this child undoubtedly saved the child and fmaily from some form of catastrophic outcome. The young age of the child coupled with the time of night and a million other likely negative scenarios, I am extremely proud of his actions" said Sheriff Chody.
