Woman attacked by road rage suspect in South Austin

A woman says a man attacked her on the Mopac frontage road in an act of road rage.

The first interaction between the two drivers was on South Mopac around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

“It's just it's not okay, it's not okay at all,” said Peggy Enzor, who was targeted by the man in a gold Oldsmobile Alero.

Enzor said she merged into the left-hand lane and the driver behind her started tailgating her and slamming on his brakes.

“So I did that and as I did that the car behind me then completely sped up. I saw him in my rearview mirror and it looked like he was going to hit the back right side of me,” Enzor said.

The man drove recklessly forcing Peggy to stop on Mopac. He eventually made his way in front of her and they both exited at William Cannon.

The man then got into it with a second driver and stopped on the frontage road, so Peggy tried to pass him on the left.

“As soon as I came to go around his vehicle, he got out of his car, completely stopped and the aggression just flew from there,” said Enzor.

The white man in his mid-30s climbed on the hood of Peggy’s car and started punching her windshield.

“I felt the glass shatter through. I think at that point I did scream because I hadn't said anything, I hadn't screamed, I had my hand on the horn the whole time, I could hear horns around me,” Enzor said.

Peggy said she didn't yell back and she didn't speed off, but she took her foot off the brake to let him know she was trying to leave.

“My thought was get out of this, get out of this, just get out of this,” said Enzor.

The man finally jumped off her car and she sped up, but he continued punching the driver’s side of her car, denting the trunk.

Peggy pulled into the Chase Bank parking lot and asked a teller to call police. Although several people witnessed the attack, no one stuck around to give a witness statement.

“Nobody got out to help, nobody pulled into the parking lot,” Enzor said.

When officers arrived they took a report and pulled prints off the car.

Peggy had pictures of the man’s car on her phone, but glare made it hard to make out the license plate. Peggy said the man had out of state plates, but she's not sure what state they were from. She's hoping police will find him and he will face charges for his actions before it happens again.

Peggy described the attacker as having a bigger build, between 5'10" and 6'1" tall, about 210 to 220 lbs, balding with facial scruff. He was wearing a red tee shirt, khaki shorts, and aviator style sunglasses.
