Woman dies after reportedly trying to save pets in fire

A woman has died after reportedly trying to get pets out of a residence on fire, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say they were called out to a structure fire on Schuster Road on Wednesday afternoon. When they arrived the structure was fully engulfed, according to the sheriff's office. It was reported a woman tried to go back into the home to get the pets and wasn't able to make it back out. She was found deceased in the home. The sheriff's office says her husband was injured after he tried to get his wife out of the home.
The male was transported to St. Marks Medical Center. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
