Austin Bold begin training camp for upcoming USL season
AUSTIN, Texas - Austin's new United Soccer League squad, the Austin Bold, has started training camp for its upcoming season.
The team isn't practicing on its Circuit of the Americas field just yet. The club still has a couple of months before the 5,000 seat stadium is up and running before its home opener.
The club introduced its players to media yesterday (1/23) and a couple of them are Central Texas natives.
Dripping Springs High School alum and Bold forward Kris Tyrpak, "Being here back home in front of all my friends, all my family, you know I have roots here, I grew up here, it's massive to have professional soccer back in Austin."
Sonny Guadarrama, a Bold midfielder and Cedar Park High School alum, says, "I think if someone were to ask me, what would my dream be growing up? It would be to play professional soccer here in Austin. So, I think now that it's a reality, I'm looking forward to it, I'm excited, I can't wait."
The season starts March 9th with the Bold's home opener against San Antonio FC on March 30th.
