Big choice for Lake Travis HS baseball standout

A baseball scholarship to play at the University of Texas or a pro career fresh out of high school? It's a choice Lake Travis High School standout Brett Baty will have to make but it looks like it'll be a win win no matter what Baty decides.

The senior third baseman committed to UT before his sophomore season.

Baty was last year's top player in Texas and is also a top 40 major league prospect.

Lake Travis head baseball coach Mike Rogers says, "He's a once in a lifetime talent for sure. His numbers are almost like a video game. Watching him play is really men against boys in many aspects. He's a complete package."

Baty says that he loves the atmosphere around college baseball but admits "it's definitely gonna be a tough decision at the beginning of the summer."

Coach Rogers agrees. "He loves the Univesity of Texas and he really had his heart set on going there. And that may still happen. But I would assume is depends on how high he goes in the draft."

Baty's options will become more clear in about a month when the Major League Baseball draft takes place.
