The family of a Texas student gunned down in a school shooting in the spring said its trip to Dallas Cowboys training camp was emotional and memorable.

Christopher Stone, 17, was one of the 10 people gunned down at Santa Fe High School on May 18.  At the invitation of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, some of the Santa Fe players and their families attended Tuesday night's workout at The Star in Frisco.

Mother Rosie Stone and her girls reflected on the visit on Wednesday afternoon before driving home to Santa Fe.

"As soon as we got here, it’s like the whole environment itself was amazing,” Stone said.

The Santa Fe families met Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett, Dak Prescott, Sean Lee and others. There was a priceless moment with Dak, which led to an autographed jersey.

"I told him a little bit about myself and I asked him if he would sign my jersey and he says for sure,” Stone said. “It was just amazing. I can’t express that enough."

All of it was a welcome change from the Stone family's other reality.

"We take back wonderful memories, but once we get back home we need to continue the fight for safety,” Stone said. “We've also started an organization called CCC for Chris Courage Change. That just means we're going to do everything in our power to bring change to this world."

Like his family, Chris loved the Dallas Cowboys -- which makes this visit even more bittersweet.

"I wish he would’ve been here in person, but I know he's happy for us. There's nothing Chris wouldn't do for anybody. That boy had a golden heart."
