'Game of Homes' adoption event at Austin Animal Center

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Prepare yourself. Friendship is coming. That's the message from the Austin Animal Center as it gets ready for its "Game of Homes" adoption event this weekend.

The event is a tie-in with the premiere of the final season of the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones". 

Pets up for adoption have been named after characters from the show including Rabbit Baratheon, Kahl Dogo, Samwell Tabby, Arya Bark, the Lannipurrs and more.

Weather permitting, the shelter is also planning an event on April 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with The Barony of Bryn Gwlad, a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. It'll bring authentic Middle Ages and Renaissance characters to mix and mingle with adopters as well as an epic battle for the Iron Bone.

Adoption fees for all dogs, cats and rabbits currently living in the shelter will be just $8 during the event which runs April 13-14 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
