3 people hospitalized after downtown Austin shooting

Three people are hospitalized after an early morning shooting in downtown Austin.

At around 2:45 a.m., Austin police were called out to a disturbance at the Wendys parking lot at I-35 and 7th Street.

Officials say several people were jumping on the hood of a car and a 911 caller said the people were seen with guns.

When officers arrived the crowd of up to 300 people began to run into the Shell parking lot nearby and that's when officers reported hearing shots fired.

Officers went to the Shell and found three gunshot victims.

Two of the victims were shot in the leg and the third was shot in the hand. All victims are expected to be okay.

A firearm was seized from one of the victims and officials say that victim could be a possible suspect.

The investigation continues and police are interviewing persons of interest.

The identities of those involved has not been released at this time.
