43 arrested during APD's New Year No Refusal

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - 43 people were arrested during the 2018 New Year No Refusal initiative, according to stats released by the Austin Police Department. 

The Austin Police Department conducted the initiative from  9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Saturday, December 29, 2018 to Tuesday, January 1, 2019. During this period, 43 individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated offenses. The different arrests included:

• Blood Search Warrants:           21
• Consent Breath Samples:       12
• Consent Blood Samples:         10

Of those arrests, the following number had enhanced DWI charges:

• Consent Breath Samples over .15:                                2
• Class A Misdemeanor DWI (with prior conviction) :       4
• Felony DWI (2 or more prior convictions) :                     4
• Felony DWI Child Passenger :                                       1
