Apartment resident severely burned in fire

A North Austin apartment resident is in the hospital with severe burns after escaping a fire. 

Firefighters say they got multiple 911 calls to the apartment on North Loop Boulevard at 3 p.m. on Friday. Somehow, a fire started inside the victim's apartment. 

He climbed out of a window to escape. 

According to firefighters, he had what appeared to be third degree burns on his hands as well as injuries from cimbing through the window.

He is currently in serious condition at Dell Seton Medical Center.
