APD asking public for help in identifying sex assault suspect
The Austin Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman on January 15th.
Police say at around 2:46 a.m. a woman was walking from the Casino South Side Lounge at 1502 W. Ben White Boulevard to her home. While walking, the woman was attacked from behind and sexually assaulted in the 1800 block of Fortview Road.
The victim has identified the suspect as follows:
- Male - unknown race; possibly white, Asian or Hispanic
- Possible dark hair not long in length
- Non athletic or soft body
- Strong musty body odor. Smelled of urine.
- Possible smoker. Strong smell of cigarettes and nicotine.
- Possibly wore a jacket of "stiff" material with a cloth hood or collar. Unknown color.
- Possible scratch to chin or neck area
