APD identifies deceased in Central Austin shooting

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - The Austin Police Department has identified the man killed in an early morning shooting Wednesday at a La Quinta hotel in Central Austin.

Bruce Martinez, 38, died at Dell Seton Medical Center from injuries sustained in the shooting.

APD, Austin Fire Department and ATCEMS responded to a shots fired call outside the La Quinta located at 5812 North I-35 just before 4 a.m. They found Martinez and a black male with multiple gunshot wounds and both were transported to Dell Seton. Martinez died at 4:20 a.m.

APD says through its investigation and witness statements it learned that the suspect left the scene of the shooting in a black Dodge Charger. The vehicle was later found abandoned at East Riverside Drive.

APD says they have identified the individuals involved and that there is no threat to the public.
