APD investigate hookah lounge shooting in North Austin

Austin police are investigating after three people were shot in North Austin early Sunday.

According to APD, they received a call around 4 a.m. that shots had been fired in the 1900 block of Rutland Drive close to Metric Blvd. An employee who works two doors down from the lounge spoke to FOX 7 but did not want to be identified.

She said she heard someone fire off multiple shots. "I heard four pops...again I was in the very back of our building.  There were several that were way to close to home for me it was scary."

Officers said an unidentified suspect drove by the Paris Hookah Lounge and opened fired at the business. Three people were hit and taken to local hospitals.

Witnesses told police a group of people got into a fight earlier in the night.

APD believe the shooting stemmed from that. "There was a disturbance at this establishment the Austin police were not called at that time they handled it internally they feel that stemming from the incident is where the shots came from," said APD Corporal John Majefski.

There are no suspects at the moment, but the police do have witnesses and leads.
