APD searching for suspect in July 17 assault case
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - The Austin Police Department is asking the public for help in finding the suspect in a July 17 assault case.
The incident happened at around 10:06 p.m. in the 3800 block of South 2nd Street/South Center Street.
Police say the victim told officers she was walking with her dogs on South Center Street when a man came up behind her and put her in a "chokehold." The victim fought off her attacker who fled on foot towards 2nd Street.
The suspect is described as follows:
- White or Hispanic male
- About 5'4" or 5'5"
- Stocky, broad, muscular build
- Tan complexion
- Short dark hair with straight cut sideburns
- Round chin
- Hairy arms
- Last seen wearing a dark colored baseball cap, long dark shorts and a gray t-shirt
