On Tuesday, Google Maps and representatives from a number of Texas agencies announced more than 80 Texas landmarks will be highlighted on Google Maps.
Here are links to just a few landmarks in Austin:

McKinney Falls State Park
Hamilton Pool
The technology, through the Trekker Loan Program, will allow users to virtually visit landmarks including Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake, and Mount Bonnell from their homes or cell phones. This is the first time Texas' parks, trails, and outdoor spaces have been captured using Street View Trekker technology.
The Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau, Texas Tourism office, Houston Parks Board, and visit El Paso are all involved in this partnership.
“As Texans, we love the outdoors, and thousands of residents and visitors take advantage of our parks and trails on a daily basis,” said Gerardo Interiano, Google’s head of external affairs in Texas. “Today people can take virtual tours of more than 80 locations across our beautiful state right from the Google Maps app on their Android or iOS phones. Now the rest of the world can know, what Texans already know, and what Willie Nelson taught us: there’s no place but Texas.”
