In anticipation of tonights ridesharing ruling by the City of Austin Lyft has issued the following statement.

Back in December, City Council approved a new ridesharing ordinance that would crack down on ridesharing companies.

The City of Austin is expected to make a ruling on ridesharing this evening.

Uber and Lyft have said if fingerprint background checks become a requirement, they'll leave the city.

On January 19th the coalition "Ridesharing Works for Austin" dropped off 65,103 signatures to the City Clerk's office.  Those signatures asked for ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft to not leave the city.
