Austin Police investigate suspicious death near airport
The Austin Police Department is investigating a suspicious death at a Southeast Austin gas station. APD Corporal Angel Polansky said the incident took place early Saturday morning, just before two. “We received a 911 call of a vehicle disturbance on Burleson Road and Highway 183,” she said.
When officers responded they said they found a man, alone, with blood on him at the Exxon Mobile. “Medical intervention was performed, EMS arrived, and continued medical intervention,” Polansky said. But despite their efforts the man died at the scene.
At this point homicide detectives are not releasing how the man died, but said they are treating this case as a suspicious death. “We don't have much information at this time to provide,” Polansky said.
Detectives are hoping for some witnesses to come forward to figure out what happened. “They're interviewing anybody they can. We have a 911 caller that we are trying to locate and hopefully there were some other witnesses, so we are at stage one right now. So hopefully we can get this wrapped up pretty quick,” Polansky said.
APD is not yet releasing the man's identity.
They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
