Man found shot on North Austin road dies, police look for suspect

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 100 block of Oertli Lane in North Austin. Police are looking for a suspect after they found a man shot and lying in the road.

Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police began receiving calls about reported gunshots in the area of Oertli Lane near Georgian Drive.

Police arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound on Oertli Lane. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was treated but later died from his injuries.

The victim's identity has not been released at this time. Police have also not released any details about the suspect. They say it's unclear what relationship, if any, the suspect and victim had or if either actually lived in the area.

Police are also investigating to see if the incident was a drive-by shooting due to some reports that may have been the case and because the victim was found on the road.
