Attend Good Friday services at the Erwin Center
Nonprofit organization Serve Our City expects a crowd of 15,000 at the Erwin Center for the ninth annual event, which will feature faith leaders from area churches, a 100-voice choir and a performance by the Christian rock band “Newsboys.”
Tickets are free, but funds raised will benefit The Refuge for DMST (Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking). Services begin at 6 p.m. Frank Erwin Center, 1701 Red River St., Austin. www.serveourcity.com

Dance the day away at the Austin Urban Music Festival
The 13th annual festival celebrates Austin’s local urban music scene. The first day features En Vogue, Vivian Green, and Texas Jazz Explosion. Saturday will feature Johnny Gill, Dave Hollister and ZAPP. 3-10:30 p.m. (Fri.), noon-10:30 p.m. (Sat.). $40.99 (Fri. general admission), $45.99 (Sat. general admission), $77.99 (two-day general admission), VIP passes available. Race to support mental health at the ASH Dash 5K Bunny Run
The 14th annual event takes place on a double-looped trail that begins in front of the original state hospital building and winds through the hospital’s grounds in Hyde Park. Participants race, run or walk for mental health in the Austin State Hospital Volunteer Services Council’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The race begins at 8 a.m., and there is an Easter egg hunt for all participants immediately after the race ends. $20 (age 12 and younger), $35 (adults). Worth the Trip: See the hot air balloons rise over Horseshoe Bay Resort
The festival features over 20 hot-air balloons, which will ascend into the air over the Hill Country resort at daylight on Saturday (weather dependent). The festival has drawn 10,000 attendees in past years and will include activities for children such as an animal show and rock climbing wall on Saturday.
