Barbie's getting a new body

The world's best-selling doll will now come in three shapes: petite, tall and curvy.

Mattel, who makes the dolls, introduced the new line today.

Other Barbies coming out later this year will also include seven skin tones, new eye colors and two dozen different hairstyles.

The idea is to increase appeal to a broader segment of the population.

But, it also brings up criticism that the Barbie doll gives children and teens an unrealistic ideal of a socially acceptable body image
