Bastrop County hit hard by severe storms

*Update* Highway 71 has reopened. 

The storms in Central Texas have hit Bastrop County hard with flooding in several areas. Bastrop County OEM sent out a tweet early this morning advising drivers to stay off roads, calling it a "very dangerous situation.

Officials say Highway 71 W at 21 West is completely flooded in Cedar Creek. Highway 71 W to Austin and Highway 71 East to Smithville have both flooded along with many county roads. Several rescues have been made.

An evacuation has been ordered for Pecan Shores, Hidden Shores & Doty River Estates.

County offices have also had a delayed start until 10 a.m.
