Bodies recovered from flood waters identified

According to the Travis County Sheriffs Office, they have identified the three people that lost their lives in the weekend floods.

The three people are: Jorge Aguilar-Torres, 50, Edward Hernandez Jr., 36, and Inez Ortiz Garza, 67.

According to the press release, the first call of a missing person was at FM 1625 near Coulver Road. Witnesses reported a man, later identified as Jorge Aguilar-Torres, of Del Valle, on his vehicle in high water. Witnesses said someone attempted to save him but was not successful and left the scene before Deputies arrived. Aguilar-Torres was found dead a short distance downstream from the vehicle. 

Authorities are asking anyone with information concerning the rescue attempt or this case to contact Detective Scott Schroeder, at 512-854-3234.

The release states there was a second missing person from another car near the intersection of SH 130 and FM 812. Two people were rescued from one car but a third person, identified as Hernandez, was washed away. Hernandez, of Del Valle, was found dead about one mile downstream from the car.

According to the release, Garza was reported missing from a house at 8320 Citation Avenue. Her husband said they were collecting items from inside their home prior to leaving when water broke through a wall and began to fill the home with water. The couple where then separated. Mr. Garza was rescued and Mrs. Garza was found deceased about a mile downstream from the house.

The Travis County Sheriffs Office said their thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of these devastating flood waters and their families.
