Body of woman found at Villas del Sol apartments in Austin
Crime scene technicians spent much of Tuesday afternoon collecting and documenting items in the parking lot of a north Austin apartment complex on Rutland Drive. Police were called to the Villas Del Sol shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived they found the body of a woman in her 30s.
“We do have the information about the type of trauma but at this time because it’s an on going and active investigation we won’t release that information to maintain the integrity of the case,” said APD Spokesperson Officer Destiny Winston.
Investigators are not saying exactly where the woman was found. Areas around several of the buildings were searched as well as the parking area near the entrance. Residents say there have been problems in the complex before, but nothing like a possible murder.
“Well you’ve made my nerves come up, you see that’s why I’m moving. Because this place is kind of bad as far as I’m concerned,” said resident Lois Houston.
Another resident Devaughnce Goss said the incident has him thinking about relocating.
“During the daytime it’s fine but it’s like when they say, when night comes ... at night time that’s when it comes alive,” said Goss.
Investigators are not releasing information about the person who made the initial call for them to come to the complex. Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact the Austin Police Department as soon as possible.
This apartment complex is about a block away from where a deadly drive-by shooting happened about a week ago. Investigator say it’s too early to rule out whether not that incident has any connection to the death of the woman.
