Burnet police looking for arson suspect seen setting police car on fire
The search continues for a man who set a Burnet police cruiser on fire. The incident was captured on security camera video and happened early Wednesday morning.
“We are going to have to work backwards of course when that happens it will take some time, but number one we will rely on the video and on the citizens, calling in tips,” said Chief Paul Nelson
Only one vehicle was damaged.
A state fire marshal collected evidence Thursday and Chief Nelson seems confident they’ll make an arrest. “So all the Samples we took this morning is on the way to the lab right now, so well know what accelerant was used,” said Chief Nelson.
The fire was contained to the back hatch which will cost several thousand dollars to replace. It appears none of the electronics inside the cruiser were damaged.
“Any number of things could have happened, fortunately it was this and only this,” said Chief Nelson
Anyone with information about the arson attack is asked to contact the Burnet Police Department
