Busch Gardens unveils plans for new roller coaster
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is adding a new roller coaster to its fleet, the theme park announced on Wednesday.
The "Tigris" is a triple-launch steel roller coaster and will be Florida's tallest launch coaster, according to the park.
"Tigris will catapult riders through an exhilarating array of looping twists with forward and backward motion, breath-taking drops, a 150-foot skyward surge, and an inverted heartline roll, all at more than 60 miles per hour," the park said.
The Tigris will mimic the agility of the tiger, the park said, as riders race along more than 1,800 feet of steel track.
The new attraction is being constructed in the Stanleyville area adjacent to Jungala and will be open by spring 2019.
The park said Wednesday there will also be a second new thrill ride coming to the Gwazi area of the park in 2020, but stay tuned for those details.
