Caldwell ISD cancels classes on November 11 due to excessive flu and flu-like absences

Caldwell Independent School District has announced that classes have been canceled for November 11 due to excessive absences caused by cases of flu and flu-like symptoms.

Superintendent Andrew Peters says in a letter to parents, staff and the community that more than 15% of the district student body is absent for sickness. Peters says the elementary school is hardest hit with 20% of its student body out.

Peters say the hope is that extendeded time away will decrease cases and stop the spread of symptoms. It will also give the district time to clean and disinfect rooms and buses.

Everything is expected to be clean and ready for students and staff to return to school on Tuesday, November 12.
