CareForce: Veteran homelessness

In the FOX 7 CareForce, we're looking at an issue that seems to be improving in Austin and the rest of the country.

We're talking about veteran homelessness.

Last week in a big announcement at City Hall, Austin's Mayor and the Secretary of Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that veteran homelessness in Austin is over. Also nationally, the federal government says vet homelessness has dropped nearly 50 percent since 2010.

Now the CareForce has been following this issue for some time as well, we profiled the Caritas homeless vet program two years ago when the Austin vet homeless population was about 260 people.

So why the success?

That's the question we are asking Megan Podowski who is with Caritas.
