Cheese sold at Whole Foods in several states recalled due to allergy risk of undeclared ingredient

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for Fromagerie Coop de Mean Cabricharme cheese sold at Whole Foods Markets in several states due to an undeclared ingredient that poses an allergy risk.

The FDA says the cheese product contains egg lysozyme, an egg white protein, and is not declared on the product label and people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the cheese.

According to the FDA, the cheese was cut and plastic wrapped by the pound with Whole Foods Market scale labels and can be identified as follows:
- PLU 57953 with a best by date of 10/07/2026 sold in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island
- PLU 54670 with a best by date of 10/07/2026 sold in Arizona and California
Whole Foods says all the affected products have been removed from store shelves.

Customers who purchased the cheese do not need to return it but are urged to destroy it and can obtain a full refund with a valid receipt from where they made the purchase.
