Chief Art Acevedo says APD will be staffed 100 percent for upcoming ROT rally

In the wake of the biker gang shootout in Waco, concerns have risen about the upcoming Republic of Texas Biker Rally that's held in Austin every year.

Could violence spread to that event?

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo addressed this Thursday.

"I can tell you anyone coming to Austin to the Republic of Texas Rally to cause problems, this isn't the place you want to be. We will be staffed up to 100 percent and we will have undercover officers in crowds and will have eyes and ears in places people won't see us. Do we anticipate problems? No. Will we be prepared for problems? Yes. We will we take down people who start stirring up the pot? Yes, we will not tolerate violence in our city."

The Republic of Texas Biker Rally is only a few weeks away.

It's scheduled for June 11th through the 14th with most events being held at the Travis County Expo Center.
