Chuy's celebrates Elvis Presley's birthday at all six Austin locations

Chuy's is holding a big celebration Wednesday in honor of the King of Rock and Roll's birthday.

The Austin staple celebrates Elvis Presley's birthday every year.

The story behind the celebration is the owners only had $20 to decorate their first restaurant back in 1982, so they went to a flea market and ended up with a velvet Elvis painting.

Soon, customers began bringing in their own Elvis memorabilia to decorate the restaurant, and since then Elvis became a Chuy's staple.

Every year, they hold a themed party for his birthday on Jan. 8, and this year's is luau-themed.

The celebration features discounts, fun tiki drinks, and anyone who comes dressed in costume as Elvis or his wife Priscilla will receive a free entree. Limited edition Elvis T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

The deals, and live Elvis performers, are available at all six Chuy's locations in Austin.
