City of Austin looking for summer lifeguards

The City of Austin is offering extra incentives for summer lifeguards. More than 600 are needed across the city.

Now the city is offering a $100 bonus for the first 400 lifeguards hired by May 23. The bonus will be paid through a Visa gift card.

Starting pay for lifeguards in Austin is between $8 and $10.25 an hour, depending on age, position, and experience.

The city is hosting several hiring events to get those 600-plus positions filled.

The next one is March 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Aquatic Administration and Training Facility.

Just bring a valid ID and your social security card.

At the event, you can fill out an application and get an interview.
