Dad shares heartbreaking photo of son comforting dying sister
An Arkansas father shared a heartbreaking photo on Facebook of his son comforting his little sister as she was dying of cancer.
On June 3, Adalynn "Addy" Joy Sooter, 4, lost her fight against cancer. She had been battling Diffuse-Intrinsic-Pontene-Glioma (DIPG) since November 2016, when she was first diagnosed. The tumor was growing in her brain.
The day before she passed away, Addy Joy's father, Matt Sooter, shared an emotional post on the "Hope for Addy Joy" Facebook page about his son, Jackson, who was comforting his dying sister.
"A little boy should not have to say goodbye to his partner in crime, his playmate, his best friend, his little sister," Sooter said. "This isn't how it's supposed to be. But this is the broken world we live in."
Sooter said his daughter's symptoms progressed rapidly at the beginning of the month.
"Pray for Jackson. He doesn't want to leave her side and we won't make him," Sooter said, ahead of his daughter's passing.
A celebration of life service was held for Addy Joy over the weekend in Arkansas. Her family said in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation, Arkansas Children's Hospital, or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas.
