Daycare worker charged for abusing 10-month-old boy

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with causing a serious bodily injury to a 10-month-old boy by shaking the boy with her hands. She has been charged with Injury to a Child, a first degree felony. 

According to the Taylor Police Department, first responders with WCEMS were dispatched to an unlicensed daycare center on Thursday, June 16, 2017 in reference to a subject having difficulty breathing. 

A 10-month-old boy was taken to Dell Children's Hospital in serious condition. On Wednesday, June 21, staff at Dell Children's Hospital determined that the 10-month-old sustained an inflicted abusive traumatic brain injury. 

During the course of the investigation, detectives interview 18-year-old Tempest Coulter, an operator of the daycare center. Coulter admitted to Taylor detectives that she injured the child by shaking him with her hands. 

Coulter was arrested by the Taylor Police Department on Thursday, July 6, 2017. 

She is being held in the Williamson County Jail.
