Deadly rollover crash in Kyle after hit and run
A man is dead after a rollover crash in Kyle. Police say the crash happened on Beebee Road near Fountain Grove around 11:50 p.m. on November 23.
The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Michael Alan Rentz.
Police say they responded to the scene and found a vehicle with heavy rollover damage. A man, later identified as Rentz, was lying on the ground next to the vehicle. Rentz was pronounced dead on the scene with severe head trauma.
Officers later learned, police say, that witnesses to the crash had removed the male from the vehicle before realizing he was dead.
An investigation revealed that Rentz had been involved in a minor accident at Beebee at I-35 East Frontage and left the scene of that crash.
Police say Rentz hit an SUV and the driver of the SUV followed Rentz as he was leaving the scene. The SUV driver told police he saw Rentz drive off the roadway, overcorrect, then slide up on the guardrail and roll multiple times.
Witnesses told police Rentz was driving at a very high speed when he hit the guardrail.
At this time, police there are no criminal charges pending for this crash.
