A resident dog at Mountfitchet Castle in England, came to the rescue of nine orphaned ducklings.

The ducklings mother had disappeared last week. As of Thursday, the mother duck was nowhere to be found, and the ducklings were abandoned. According to reports, the owner of the property believes the mother may have been killed by a fox.

A member of the staff at Mountfitchet Castle found the wayward ducklings waddling around the property. The staff was concerned about the ducklings but that's when the castle's 10-year-old Labrador named Fred stepped in to help.

Fred has been babysitting his tiny brood ever since. Photos and video show the ducklings cuddling up to Fred and even riding on his back.
